School Based Traineeships
&  Work Experience

Gaining a school-based apprenticeship or traineeships is a great way to learn about a particular type of industry or start a career. We encourage all our students from year 10 onwards to complete a school based traineeship. While there are many different types of workplaces, we work with the student and try to find a traineeship in an area that interests them. Some of the traineeships completed in the past include Certificate III in Assistant Allied Health, Certificate III in Sports and Recreation, Certificate III in Business, School- based Mechanical apprentice with past employers including National Bank, BIMA, Institute for Urban Indigenous Health, Kmart and T3.

There are many advantages for our students including:

·         Gaining a recognised qualification while working and learning at school
·         Developing workplace skills and confidence providing a solid base for    any career
·         Advantages over others who have not completed a  traineeship when applying for a job after school
·         Earning their own money
·         A completed or partially completed school-based apprenticeship or traineeships contribute towards the QCE
·         We have indigenous mentors who work closely with the workplace, school and our students to ensure the experience is positive
·         Assisted study included in the training
