A swim in cool waters.

The school is most fortunate in having a 25 metre pool. The pool was officially opened in 1967 as part of the then Acacia Ridge State School. This facility is an integral part of the school calendar, used during the Spring and Summer seasons as part of the physical education curriculum, and co-curricular activities.

From as early as prep classes, students engage in lessons that focus on swimming technique, swimming for health, well-being and fitness and for enjoyment through relaxation and socialisation. Prep to year 3 classes learn to swim with support whilst manoeuvring across the width of the pool. These formative stages encourage confidence in swimming the length of the pool as they graduate to higher levels of ability. The pool has been used to teach high school students how to dive using snorkelling and tank apparatus, and was useful to those students who completed a first aid course focusing on resuscitation of drowning casualties.

There have been times in our occupancy of the school that the pool has needed to be closed for repairs. Following an extensive storm one year the liner became cracked forcing the pool to be shut for some time until its costly repairs.

The pool facilities include a tiered grandstand, shower block and toilet amenities. The two latter facilities were closed with the development of the school hall and toilet block adjacent to the tuckshop. Shaded seating areas also provide an alternative for parents who attend swimming carnivals

Events held in the pool typically include the annual swimming carnival where the house teams Wakka Wakka, Bundjalung and Jagera go head to head in winning the coveted title of swimming champions of the year. The pool is used as part of the Friday afternoon Activities block for recreational purposes. In recent times an evening pool party was held as a part of Halloween celebrations.
