NEW: Optometry NewsAs some of you may be aware, we now have an optometrist visiting the Murri School on Thursdays and testing students’ eyes. Parents, teachers and community members are also welcome to book in for eye tests at this clinic.
Symptoms which may indicate a vision problem can include squinting, standing close to the television, difficulty reading and complaining of tired, sore eyes or headaches after school. If you have noticed any issues with your child’s or your own vision, or if you are overdue for an eye test, please let the school or Medical Clinic know so we can arrange a suitable time for an appointment. All eye examinations assess whether glasses or eye exercises are required, and also check for any eye diseases. You should have your eyes tested every two years, or more regularly if advised by the optometrist. If glasses are required, we can organise free glasses through the MASS (Medical Aids Subsidy Scheme) Spectacle Supply Scheme for anyone who has held a Health Care Card, Pension Card or Seniors Card for more than six months. If your child requires glasses, we will contact you for a copy of your relevant card and to sign some paperwork. You will also receive a letter explaining why your child requires glasses. We look toward to seeing you all soon. Posted April 9 2015 |
